AIEISA (Artificial Intelligence Entrepreneurial Institute of South Africa) is a digital learning platform created by LeanTechnovations to help SMMEs and youth become future-ready, confident AI users, enabling them to save time, improve output, and build businesses (or careers).
We built AIEISA for one reason: most people know AI matters, but they don’t know how to use it consistently for work.
AIEISA is our way of turning AI from “interesting” into a daily capability, with practical learning, templates, and measurable progress.
Why we built AIEISA
When we started LeanTechnovations, we partnered with businesses to improve performance through Lean practices, technology-enabled solutions, and practical methodologies, and we stayed involved beyond quick fixes.
Across industries, we kept seeing the same pattern:
- teams are working hard but stuck in manual effort
- owners are doing everything themselves
- hiring experts is expensive
- improvements don’t stick unless there’s a system
Then AI showed up with huge promise, but most people still felt:
- “I don’t know where to start.”
- “I’m not technical.”
- “I don’t trust it yet.”
So we built AIEISA as a structured, practical path (made by South Africans, for South Africans), so SMMEs and youth can adopt AI in a way that’s repeatable and measurable.
Rowen Pillai (CA (SA); MBA; Certified AI Expert; Certified Lean Practitioner)
Rowen’s career has always been about turning strategy into execution and driving tangible results. He brings over a decade of experience across finance, professional services, industrial, and retail, grounded in Lean methodologies, digital transformation, and data-informed decision-making. As one of the early movers in AI in South Africa, Rowen is known for making AI practical through real workflows that improve productivity, quality, and speed of execution. His work and insights have also been featured in major media publications, reinforcing his position as a trusted voice on AI-enabled business transformation.
Rowen is the CEO of LeanTechnovations, Inqolobane Investment Managers and holds several board positions. His journey began at KPMG, moved into retail at Kingsley Heath, and later led to executive leadership as Group Financial & Operations Director at the Transcend Group, before co-founding LeanTechnovations.
That mix of finance, operations, and improvement thinking is a big part of why AIEISA is built to be practical, structured, outcome-driven, and designed for real adoption.
Bruce Hunt (CFA; MBA)
Bruce Hunt brings deep expertise in empowerment ownership, BEE structuring, and value-driven transformation, with nearly two decades of experience across finance, professional services, and consulting. He has advised multinational and large South African businesses on complex ownership and participation structures, particularly ESOPs and BEE ownership structuring, with a strong focus on solutions that are commercially sound, sustainable, and aligned to South Africa’s transformation priorities.
Bruce is especially passionate about meaningful ESD/SED interventions, where funding translates into measurable skills, stronger business operations, and improved competitiveness. He is also a tech enthusiast and a strong believer in systems thinking: building repeatable operating models, clear governance, and scalable structures that make outcomes predictable and measurable.
The combination of commercial rigour, transformation expertise, and systems thinking is a key reason AIEISA is designed to support sponsors with cohort delivery, reporting-ready evidence, and measurable outcomes that stand up to scrutiny.
